Artel Gallery

Artist's Collective

Artel Lindale is a gallery beside the ice-cream shop at the Lindale complex on SH1, Papraparaumu.  Five collective members involved in Artel represent an exciting & varied range of local arts.

Abstracts and hot retro poster

Ruth Blair is best known for her abstract acrylic painting.  But it was her retro-poster of surf-life savers on the Paekakariki Beach that was a hot seller at 2008’s Railway Station school fundraiser.

Glasswork

Glass artist Susie Mills makes translucent plates, decorative bowls & dishes.  Her recent work takes fragile natural shapes, and re-forms them in a filigree of beautiful colour.

Impasto paintings

Ronda Thompson’s vibrant palette-knife chooks & landscapes have been exhibited all over the North Island & at the Academy of Fine Arts.  She has had a solo exhibition at Koha, and has an up-coming exhibition at the Mahara Gallery alongside Mirek Smisek.

NZ Landscapes

Scenery and colours of the NZ landscapes with their oft-times moody, broody shorelines and beautiful sunsets are captured in Val Bartley’s paintings.  Her art hangs on walls both here and overseas.

Paper and Thread Art

In paper & thread, Jil Hemming’s delicate papers & crochet reflect her fascination with the natural world.   She offers folded paper kimonos, eco-dyed crochet necklaces, & stitched birds.

Other artists also contribute to the gallery.  Currently there is work from Sarah Wairau (sculpture & 3D wall-pieces); Chrissie Sallis (solar prints); Pamela Annsouth (pottery); Bride Coe, Di Connal & Alison Laird (jewellery); Charmaine Fluker & Pat Mills (knits); Stan Richards (polished wood); & Morgan Rothwell (bird paintings).
