Chrissie Sallis

Chrissie's paintings and prints are characterised by her careful drawing, sense of colour and attention to detail.

Chrissie trained as a painter and printmaker at Whitireia Community Polytechnic and has a B.E.D in primary school teaching.

She has been practising as a full-time artist for four years, using oils, acrylics, solar plate and mixed media.

For many of her pieces she uses found recycled objects.

"I enjoy finding old discarded items that I cut up, re-work and develop into, hopefully, precious art works".

Recently, old keepsakes and curios are the subject matter of many of her works.

Chrissie lives in Waikanae Beach where she enjoys the cafes, fantastic beach, warm friendly people and a great creative community.

Her recent works are to be exhibited in a local gallery. The inspiration behind these works is "possessions" and the emotional value we place on them.

"I am reinterpreting their value, their memory..."
