Exhibitions
A recent exhibition “Looking Skywards” has been together with Raumati artist Crispin Korschen. Here Jan's fibre and paper sculptures indulge the viewer in whimsy and beauty.
“It explores femininity in an allegorical setting; from the passage of family to isolation, loneliness and /or quiet contemplation, with tenderness and a little risqué humor”
- Nigel Benson, Otago Daily Times, 29 Jan 2009.
Other successful exibitions have included a sell out show at the WOW Gallery, Nelson, 2006 and an exhibition at the Southwest School Of Art & Craft Gallery, San Antonia, Texas USA in 2007.
Works have been commissioned by buyers in the UK, Australia and New Zealand .
Inspiration
Jan studied with Heather Bush at the “Art fibre and Fashion” course in the Wairarapa and in 1998 attended master classes at Whitireia Community Polytechnic with Donna Demente-Oglivy.
She is inspired by natural forms, whismy, humour and female forms.
Living in Ramuati South Jan loves the coastal area, beaches and creative community which she also finds very inspiring.
