Kimbra Taylor
Kimbra is an artist, tutor and facilitator. She enjoys living in the small coastal community of Raumati South, with it’s proximity to the Akatarawas, the hills of the escarpment, and the low foothills flowing down to the dunes and the sea.
Kimbra values the "out of city" lifestyle and is appreciative of being within an hour of Wellington city:
"It is home to, and supportive of many artists and musicians and has a proactive residents group. I feel at home here…..".
Drawing and thinking with the right side of the brain: workshops
Currently Kimbra teaches drawing and painting using the right mode of the brain to adults on the Kapiti coast and in Wellington.
She does this both privately and is also employed by WEA (Workers Educational Association) and Inverlochy Art School, where she runs weekend workshops in Right Mode Drawing and five day summer schools in life drawing and painting.
Kimbra also runs workshops in which she helps business people to think more effectively by showing them how to access their whole brain, using the creative process of drawing.
Kimbra graduated from the Wellington School of Design with a Diploma of Visual Communications. She also worked for the school as a tutor in illustration, graphic techniques and life drawing.
Kimbra has tutored at Whitireia Polytechnic and Weltech, where she taught life drawing and drawing & painting. She taught general drawing and perspective at the Wellington School of Architecture.
Illustration
She went on to work as a freelance illustrator specializing in magazine, fashion and book illustration. She worked for Thomas Nelson publishing firm and has illustrated many published children’s books. Over the years Kimbra has taken part in group exhibitions and has sold her artwork.
Portrait artist

She finds her inspiration in people and nature.
