Jan Lowe
Photography
Jan has lived in Kapiti for 19 years and has been taking photos for the past 30.
She likes to "see the extraordinary in the ordinary" and prefers to make fauna, flora and landscapes her subjects rather than people.
Jan pays particular attention to the detail in her photos and says that she sees the world in a different way to most people.
Her photos have been made into postcards, greeting cards and Christmas cards.
Tourists and visitors to the region particularly enjoy Jan's images of local icons such as the Statue of Our Lady in Paraparaumu and the Paekakariki steam trains as well as of our native birds.
Jan can make any of her photographs into cards and photograph gardens and pets on commission.
Individuals and businesses are invited to contact Jan if they wish to purchase her images for their own use on calendars, inhouse publicatons, and for corporate gifts.
And as long as it is not weddings or formal portraits she is open to doing small funtions such as birthdays, sports events, children's parties and informal family events.
Jan is largely self-taught but for the photography component in the Diploma of Journalism that she completed in 2005.
